John Muir Trail photos online

My fellow JMT hikers Matt and Minette and myself have pooled the photos from our hike into one big album. Overall there are 347 photos, slides and maps documenting everything from mountain peaks to meadow valleys, stream crossings to storm clouds, wild flowers to wild marmots, peaceful sunrises to amazing sunsets. Just thought I’d let you know that I’m done going through the photos from the hike, removing duplicates and cropping as necessary. I’m happy to report I’ve got quite a few nice ones. Carrying the Canon Digital Rebel XT and the extra wide angle lens was well worth it. Now I’ve just got to write the comments for the ~225 remaining photos. Here’s a teaser from early on – approaching Half Dome before sunrise.

Happy Trails

For those of you wondering why I haven’t updated this site recently, it’s not because I’ve been lazy or have had a lack of things to talk about. On the contrary, I just spent 3 weeks hiking ~230 miles through some of the most beautiful wilderness in the lower 48-states. I hiked the John Muir Trail from Yosemite NP down to Mt. Whitney in Sequoia NP. I hiked the majority of the trail with my friend Matt from college and his girlfriend Minette. Rob, a friend of mine, and Brian, a friend of Matt and Minette’s, then met us 3 days from the end of the hike to bring in our last resupply and to hike the rest of the trail with us. Continue reading
