From Amon To Arthur

Last night I went to the Amon Tobin concert at Bimbo’s 365 Club in San Francisco with Ian, Orla, and Robert. We grabbed dinner before the show at an Indian & Irish Pub across the street. I didn’t catch the name, but it was certainly an eclectic place. The lamb vindaloo was something tasty. The show opened up with a set from Bonobo. He played a very groovy set that I was quite impressed with. Prefuse 73 also put on a great performance. It didn’t seem as polished as his studio album, but he was still one of the more animated performer I’ve seen when it comes to electronica music. He was even cool enough to hang out in the lobby after the show and talk/sign autographs. Amon Tobin was pretty good, but I had a hard time getting into his set. He played all new music from his new album Out From Out Where, which I picked up while there, so I wasn’t familiar with any of the tracks. I did listen to the CD today and have to say the tracks are pretty p-h-a-t phat. It’s a shame the music didn’t come across as well live.Oh, and on a totally unrelated note, I received a call at home for Arthur Bliss. Apparently he had our phone number before we moved to Sunnyvale. We’ve gotten calls for him in the past, but I find it amazing that we’re still getting calls for him over three years later!
